Obituary of Carrie Elizabeth Shelton

Carrie Elizabeth Shelton passed away after a brief illness on March 20, 2024. She was a loving wife, sister, aunt and friend to many. Born to Anne and Theodore Brient, October 30, 1959. Carrie grew up in Bethesda, Maryland and graduated from Walt Whitman High School.  She also attended the University of Maryland. Carrie worked for GEICO for over 30 years as their Business & Government Relations Liaison, retiring in 2020, working closely with local and state governments. 

Carrie was married to Richard Shelton for 24 years, residing in Falls Church, Virginia. Together they enjoyed traveling. Favorite destinations included Panama, Italy and Australia.  In her free time, Carrie enjoyed reading and time spent with friends and family. She was always up for a good time and had the pictures to prove it! She truly lived life to the fullest.

Carrie is survived by her husband Richard, brother Kurt (Criss) Brient and sister Sara (Bruce) Kaufmann. She is also survived by many brothers and sister's in-law, nieces and nephews.  

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in her name to The American Cancer Society or The American Lung Association.
