Vicente G. Gonzalez

Vicente G. Gonzalez, 89, passed away peacefully at his home in Ashburn, Virginia on May 8th, 2019, after a long struggle with cancer.

Vicente was born on October 10, 1929 in Quito, Ecuador, son of the late Jose Rafael Gonzalez and Luz Maria Herrera. Vicente lived in the US since 1956 and in 1961 married the late Maria Gonzalez, his wife for over 55 years. They lived in Falls Church, Virginia for 50 years where they raised their family.   Vicente worked as Banquet Captain at The Mayflower Hotel in Washington DC for over 40 years where he provided hospitality to many dignitaries, celebrities and politicians. In 1993 Vicente became a Naturalized Citizen of the United States for which he and his family were very proud.

Vicente is survived by his three children, Vicente Gonzalez, Elizabeth McDonald, and Francisco Gonzalez; five grandchildren, Michael, Alexander, Christina, Katherine, and Mateo; his brother Luis Gonzalez and numerous relatives and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial at St. Philip Catholic Church, 7506 St. Philip’s Court, Falls Church, VA on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 11:00am, with a visitation prior from 10:30 – 11:00 am. Burial at Columbia Gardens Cemetery in Arlington, VA. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Vicente’s name to the American Cancer Society (https://www.cancer.org).

    Please know that you all are in our prayers, find comfort that my dear uncle Vicente is in Gods hands. I remember him dearly, especially that he was quite strict with Victor and me in Ecuador, as we were growing up there. You all have been blessed with a great Dad.
