Robert Tyler Barton

Retired Sergeant First Class Robert Tyler Barton, 55, born July 29, 1963 in Kansas City, Missouri to Robert Milton Barton and Marlee Gresham Barton of Pine Bluff Arkansas died April 9, 2019.

Tyler graduated from William Fremd High School in Palatine, Illinois in 1981. He attended Harper College and transferred to Illinois State University in Bloomington Illinois where he graduated with a Bachelors in Political Science.

Tyler was active in soccer and was an avid music lover. He grew up in the Chicago area and attended many concerts. His first was a Led Zeppelin concert at the age 12 with his mother.

In August 1988, Tyler joined the US Army. His first overseas deployment was in Seoul, South Korea where he met his wife of 27 years Su Hyon Pak. Among other places he was stationed was Fort Leonard Wood, Fort Lewis, Fort Hood, and Army base near Alconbury, United Kingdom. Tyler also served one year in Iraq. After twenty years in the US Army, he retired in August 2008 at Fort Drum, New York.

Since retiring from the US Army, Tyler has worked as a contractor for SAIC and Lockheed Martin. He began working at the FAA as an Aeronautical Information Specialist in 2016.

Tyler was proceeded in death by his grandparents Ira Milton and Ruby Chesney Barton, Marvin and Emma Lee Gresham, his father Robert Milton Barton and step father Paul Soulard.

Tyler is survived by his wife Su Hyon Barton, two daughters Simone Barton and Monica Barton, two granddaughters, two sisters Julia Lee Barton, Mary Louise Barton Woodman (Lowell), and his mother Marlee Gresham Barton Soulard.

Services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date, to be announced.
