Peter was born in Albany, New York on August 17, 1945.  He was the oldest child of Dr. Arthur Gerard (“Jerry”) and Dr. Jane Andrews Mack.  He grew up in Connecticut with his six younger brothers and sisters. He attended Fairfield College Preparatory School (class of ‘63,) then earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Marquette University in 1968 and a J.D. from the George Washington University in 1972.

While studying at GW, Peter met a fellow student, Ann Marie (née Horan), who also happened to be a Marquette alum (Class of ‘70.) They married on October 24, 1971 and settled in Northern Virginia, where they have lived ever since.

Peter specialized in intellectual property law and, after a stint with the Law Offices of Arthur Schwartz and then Bacon & Thomas, became a founding partner of the firm Schwartz, Jeffery, Schwab, Mack, Blumenthal & Evans in 1978.  Ten years later that firm merged with Foley & Lardner where Peter was a Senior Partner and litigator. During his career he contributed to a number of legal publications, and he was named one of the world’s best patent attorneys by Euromoney Magazine in every year the distinction was given.  His “AV Pre-Eminent” rating from Martindale Hubbell indicated both his superior ability as a lawyer and his ethical standards. He retired from Foley as a Partner Emeritus in 2007. After a two-year hiatus he joined the intellectual property firm of Lee & Morse in 2009 where he was employed at the time of the accident.

In addition to his wife of 47 years, Peter is survived by his son, Stephen and his daughter, Christina Elizabeth (“Liz”) Mack and her husband, Josh Jenisch, and their two children/his grandchildren –  Jones Alexander and MacLane Andrews Jenisch who were the apple of his eye. Peter was a pleasant person in the office, and often told me about how he still spent Thanksgiving in the same Connecticut house he grew up in. He was proud to be a part of a large, close family. We will miss him!
