Malcolm Mason Donahoo

“A limb has fallen from the family tree. Remember the best times, the laughter, the love, and most of all, the life I lived.”

It is with the deepest of sorrow that the family of Malcolm Mason Donahoo, beloved son of Anthony and Patricia Donahoo, shares the news of his sudden passing on July 10, 2019 in Arlington Virginia at the tender age of 27.

Malcolm’s time with us was far too short and was filled with more joy, laughter, and love beyond anything imaginable.

Born on July 4, 1992 in Seattle Washington, Malcolm’s family returned to Arlington where he attended Patrick Henry Elementary School, Thomas Jefferson Middle School, and Wakefield High School. While attending Wakefield, he was a member of the crew team and earned the Team Captain role and MVP his senior year. In addition, Malcolm attended NOVA Community College and George Mason University.

The sense of humor, compassion, and tenderness Malcolm shared with his entire family will be missed beyond words. Those that were fortunate enough to know Malcolm experienced the kindest of souls. He was always quick to help others and was a true protector of all, including animals.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Animal Welfare League of Arlington in memory of Malcolm Donahoo.

  2. Kelley Harvey (Family friend) says:

My heart aches for the family’s loss. While I remember Malcolm best as a brilliant boy, in truth I only watched him grow into the fine young man who he became, through the eyes of his loving father, and my dearest friend, Tony. Malcolm’s passing is an inestimable tragedy, from which I take solace only in the knowledge that Malcolm left this world a better place than he found it, by the generosity of spirit and kindness of word and deed he abundantly shared. Malcolm, you are and ever will be profoundly missed. Deepest sympathies for family and friends.

Malcolm’s laugh will be what I remember most. He was such a caring and wonderful person to be around. The lunch table at Wakefield was made that much better when he got there. I have so many wonderful memories of Malcolm. It’s unfortunate that I lost touch over the years. He would want us to celebrate his life rather than mourn his passing and that’s what we will do. Seems like there should be an order to things in this universe and one of them is that a parent should never have to deal with the death of their child.

While I didn’t know Malcom, I know his sister Ashley. She has said more than once that Malcom was not only a brother but a best friend and much like her. This means he was intelligent, tenacious, driven and kind. Loving and loyal to his family and friends, and someone who should not be passing on this soon.
