Amparo Matubis Alfelor

Amparo Matubis Alfelor, 91, peacefully joined our Creator on August 27, 2019 with her family by her side in Falls Church, Virginia.

Viewing will be held on Sat. Aug 31 from 1-5pm at Advent Funeral Homes, 7211 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, VA 22046. She will be laid to rest in the Philippines tentatively on Sept. 21.

She was born May 8, 1928, in Camarines Sur, Philippines, to Isidoro Badong and Maria Malapo. Her mom died when she was very young so she was adopted by her aunt Ramona Matubis and grew up with 6 brothers. She attended Naga Teachers College and in 1950 married Msgt. Severo Alfelor of the Philippine Army. Her husband passed away in 1970 leaving her with 10 children to raise all by herself, which she did amazingly well.

Mrs. Alfelor lived her married and widowed life in the Philippines as a homemaker, then in 1991 migrated to Florida to live with a daughter. In 2000 she moved to Virginia to live with her other children.

Her interests included spending time with family and relatives, going to church and traveling.

She will be remembered for her love and dedication to her family, generosity and sense of humor.

Mrs. Alfelor is survived by her children Winifredo, Annabelle, Nathaniel, Edwin, Cynthia, Rebecca, Muriel, Melchor, Roemer and Melody. In addition to her children she is leaving behind 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

Donations may be sent to Alzheimer’s Foundation of America
