Maria O. Gonzalez

Maria O. Gonzalez, 84, passed away peacefully at her home in Ashburn, Virginia on August 29th, 2017, after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease.
Maria was born on January 1, 1933 in Muros de Nalon, Spain, daughter of the late Francisco Vasquez and Olvido Rodriguez. She traveled the world as a nanny for a family where she lived in England, Switzerland, Chile, Sweden, Tehran, and finally the United States. Maria lived in the US since 1956 and in 1961 married Vicente Gonzalez, her husband for over 55 years. They lived in Falls Church, Virginia for 50 years where she raised her family and worked at The Falls Church Episcopal Day School for 20 years.
Maria is survived by her husband, Vicente Gonzalez of Ashburn; three children, Vicente Gonzalez, Elizabeth McDonald, and Francisco Gonzalez; five grandchildren, Michael, Alexander, Christina, Katherine, and Mateo; her brothers, Jose Mari and Juan, who both reside in Spain; and numerous relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial at St. Philip Catholic Church, 7506 Philip’s Court, Falls Church, VA on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 11:30am, with a visitation prior from 11 – 11:30 am. Burial at Columbia Gardens Cemetery in Arlington, VA. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in Maria’s name to the American Parkinson’s Disease Association (apdaparkinson.org).
