Jessica Robyn Hill, 38, of Lorton, VA, gained her wings on Wednesday evening, September 27, surrounded by her family. Jessica suffered an injury in her home resulting in a broken pelvis and hip that required multiple surgeries. During her recovery in the hospital, she developed pneumonia which she was unable to overcome.
Jessica was a very unique individual who loved life despite her many struggles. She showed us what it meant to be strong as she continued to fight battles in health and limitations that would be insurmountable for many of us. Jessica taught us how to be happy because she took joy in the simplest of things such as her love of music, cassette tapes, and pretzels. Even though Jessica wasn’t able to talk, she could express her love with a look and communicate using her own personal sign language. We will always cherish our memories of car rides with Jessica listening to her favorite music, taking her for her favorite pizza at Y-NOT in Virginia Beach, and feeding the ducks at botanical gardens. Knowing that we will never hear her special giggle of laughter again leaves us feeling empty and broken. The loss of our daughter and sister is too great for words. Jessica will always be our sunshine and forever in our hearts.
In addition to her loving parents, MaryEllen Seehafer (nee Jan) and T. Scott Hill, Jessica is survived by her devoted step-mother Nancy J. Hill (nee Handegard) of Frederick, MD, step-father Erich Seehafer of Berkeley Springs, WV, sister Lauren Kichinko (Christopher) of Oakton, VA, grandmothers Shirley M. Jan of Annapolis, MD and Eva G. Hill of Wentworth, NH, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Jessica’s family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses at INOVA Fairfax hospital who cared for Jessica in her final days. A special thank you to Jessica’s attending doctor, Dr. Negar Naderi MCCS, as well as Drs. Tsatos, Dhanani, Hymes, and Tobias. To the entire nursing staff, the family says thank you to Kelsey, Beth, Lisa, Marie and all the nurses, technicians, and sitters. We will never forget the heartfelt love and compassion that they showed our girl, Jessica.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 7 from 2 to 6pm at the home of Lauren Kichinko, Jessica’s sister.
