Traditional Funeral Service
This service would include a time for a family to receive friends and share memories (commonly referred to as a visitation or viewing). A casket may or may not be present and, if it is, it may be opened or closed. A funeral service would be held at the funeral home, place of worship or other facility the next day, with interment following at the cemetery of the family's choice. Transportation from the place of death, hearse to the cemetery and embalming of the deceased is included. Our charges for a traditional service range from $4,350 in addition to the cost of the casket, cash advance items, and other items a family may choose or require.

Graveside Funeral Service
This service would include transportation from the place of death to Advent, coordinating, arranging and directing a service at the graveside, transportation to the graveside, bathing and dressing the deceased, and placement in whatever casket a family chooses. Our charges for a graveside service range from $3,625 in addition to the cost of the casket, cash advance items, and other items a family may choose or require.

Immediate Burial
This is a service without rites, ceremonies, services, visitation, or in-person identification. It includes the basic services of a funeral director and staff, transportation from the place of death to Advent, casketing, a flat - top, cloth covered casket and local transportation to the cemetery. This charge does not include dressing, the use of the facilities and/or staff for any visitation or ceremony, public or private, prior to burial. Our charge for an immediate burial is $1,995 in addition to the cost of cash advance items and other items a family may choose or require.

Cremation with Memorial Service
Includes basic services of a funeral director and staff, transportation from the place of death to Advent and to the crematory, crematory fee, and a memorial service at Advent, place of worship or other facility. Our charges for a cremation followed by a memorial service range from $3,000 in addition to the cost of the cremation container, urn, cash advance items, and other items a family may choose or require.

Direct Cremation
Includes basic necessary authorizations, basic services of a funeral director and staff, transportation from the place of death to our facility and to the crematory, and the crematory fee. This does not include the use of facilities for viewing, public or private, prior to the cremation. Advent's charges for a direct cremation are $1,795 in addition to the cost of the cremation container, urn, cash advance items (such as a medical examiner's fee in DC and VA), and other items a family may choose or require.

Living Memorial Program
With the purchase of selected caskets or urns from Advent, a tree will be planted in a nationalforest as a living memorial and tribute to a loved one.
This unique program, made possible through a special agreement with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service, has been responsible for adding more than 11 million trees to our national forests in need of reforestation. As a result, needed shelter has been provided for our wildlife, water and wind erosion have been reduced and the air we all breathe is a little purer.

Receptions and Additional Options
Advent offers some new options that many families have expressed an interest in. We are happy to arrange receptions from the very simple to the quite grand complete with catering, beverages, music...whatever a family wishes.
With photos provided by family members, we can create a digital "slide show" to be shown on a large screen. If desired, we can arrange to have photographs retouched or restored and transformed into a framed "oil" painting. A balloon release, fresh flowers dropped into the Potomac River or the Chesapeake Bay...just about anything is possible.
